The Goal & Objectives

The main goal of the CRPU is to promote our country’s integration to the ongoing global processes in the world. To achieve its goal the CRPU carries out the following objectives: - to organize the translation of the best pieces of Azerbaijani literature into foreign languages and to disseminate them; - to organize a competition for the best pieces of literary translation in order to raise interest in literary translation; - to promote the international recognition of on-going democratic processes in society; - to render assistance to the international recognition of pieces of Azerbaijani art; - to assist the citizens in acquisition of modern democratic values, etc.

The Chairperson

Shahla Naghieva is a chairwoman of Sonmaz Mashall Cultural Relations Public Union. She is a Professor of the Foreign Literature Department of the Azerbaijan University of Languages. As a winner of Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program sponsored by the State Department of the USA she did research on literary translation at the East Carolina University, North Carolina for 6 months in 2003-2004, and at George Mason University for 4 months in 2010-2011. She is the author of many scientific articles and several books.
